Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 779 -- LABOR POSTING REQUIREMENTS

SPONSOR: Engler (Harris, 110)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Workforce
Development and Workplace Safety by a vote of 12 to 0.

This bill requires the Department of Labor and Industrial
Relations and the Human Rights Commission to include information
on the posters which are required to be displayed on the premises
of all employers, labor organizations, employment agencies,
businesses, or establishments on how to obtain the posters free
of charge. The bill also specifies that the posters developed by
the department and commission are to be the official posters to
be used in Missouri.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that private companies are marketing
reproductions of posters that are required by law. The companies
are selling the posters using questionable sales practices.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Engler.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
